No you got it wrong, no offense to her but people talk about her hair because it's just too nappy. You're representing a whole race of people why can't you get a perm before the competition so we can see you win at your best!
Keeping it 100 you are keeping it foolish, please check yourself. Her hair is not nappy, she's an Olympian and she sweats. I'm with you abby i don't see what's wrong with her hair.
The fact that you EQUATE your BEST with *NOT* being your natural state SAYS EVERYTHING about YOU Keeping it 100. Let me keep it 100 with you, Self Hatred is not cute. Learn to love yourself as YOU ARE, The only people concerned with her hair are people like you that cannot see the beauty in the natural way your HAIR grows. #Loveyourself
OMG too napppy? thats her NATURAL HAIR...too black for you? wow...she cannot represent a whole race of people with her HAIR becoz even within the race everyone hair is different...Gymnastic is not a HAIR competition...you are NOT being judged on your hair..and quite frankly i feel sorry for the african american women who instead of celebrating her achievements want to focus on her hair...society didnt attack her hair..the media didnt attack her hair...the African american woman is the biggest enemy in this hair issue...as a black athelte i am who understands how HARD pple have to work to get to the olympics..i feel sorry for pple like @100
i'm actually shocked hair is all people see - WTH!! what is wrong with her hair? i really don't see it - and if anything shouldn't the focus be on her talent- crikey she's 16 for crying out loud
see this is what is wrong with our race;self hating. just like abby said i see absolutely nothing wrong with her hair. it's totally disheartening to see people try to ruin this moment for her. we black people are our own worst enemy SMH
I honestly didn't think the problem was that her hair was nappy, I noticed it was a bit messy but I felt that was inconsequential considering the feat she was accomplishing. I mean, my hair gets messy too and I ain't no world class gymnast lol
wow all this over HAIR. a young, beautiful 16 year old girl just set a world class record and all some people want to focus on is a minor attribute that doesn't even contribute to her achievement in any way.people really need to get their priorities right and watch what message they send out to young girls because criticizing someone so young for not looking a certain way rather than celebrating their achievement is definitely not a good message.
I swear, sometimes, black people bring about their own downfall. This girl is busting her ass to bring home a medal for America (2 gold medals by the way) and guess what black people are doing; worrying about the most trivial of things, her hair. What kind of self hatred is this? This is why people look down on us, its because WE LOOK DOWN ON OUR SELVES. Dammit, this is a disgrace. SMH.
Abby you see people complaining about a girls hair while I see a bunch of people trying to be relevant. the only problem is they are going about it the wrong way.Hating on someone when they achieve something great would get you nowhere in life. Now bring a picture of all these people complaining about Gabby's hair with a list of achievements on the side and compare it to Gabby's. That's right no contest. Now could all the haters take a seat please, your 60 minutes of fame is over.
I never noticed Gabby's hair until i read the comments, and still now I CANNOT find the problem! I guess I was too busy admiring her talent and strength! I never thought this would be an issue, her hair is slicked back into a pony tail, whats really the problem though? You mad cause she's breaking record and banking. To call the girls hair nappy is self hatred at its peak. Can you imagine if Gab won the gold rocking afro puffs. B*TCHS would prob die!! Like what were you doing at 16 yrs old? Were you at the olympics "representing" yeah, thought so. Be worried about cashing out your foodstamps check today and not gabbys head!
TO THE PEOPLE WORRIED ABOUT GABBYS HAIR,MAY YOUR HAIRLINE/EDGES RECEED DRAMATICALLY AS YOU SLEEP TONIGHT! May you run the salon for salvation and may the perm leave nothing but scraggle strays on your, may you then try to put THAT in a ponytail and May I see you on the A train this weekend, where i can have a proper look and laugh!
i'm not on twitter, and with the recent controversy, i don't think i'll be joining it any time soon. twitter seems to have become a platform for hating.....
Gabby is beautiful, and talented and there is nothing wrong whatsoever with her hair. and if people are gonna be so cruel as to take attention from her olympic achievement and comment of her hair, seriously shame on them and their ugly hearts/minds.
and she is just one of a few young athletes that have been attacked on twitter........
I personally did not notice what was wrong with her hair either, I don't see what is there to bash her about, it look pretty normal to me. I am as confused as you are Abby.
I think she is an AMAZING, YOUNG, BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED champion and she brought gold medals to the Team USA, so what the heeelll ??? In addition to that, her hair is very beautiful too. People always need to criticize when they are JEALOUS. ;) Kisses Abby, you are right all the way ! Melinda.
